Practical and Elegant Twisted Chignon Updo

The Chignon twist is one of the easiest hairs updos of all time. You do not even need the help of the hairdresser as you can always manage it on your own. You can decide to wear it loosely and messy or polish it to perfection. All in all it is one of those late last minute hairstyles that you can manage in just a few minutes after you master the art of styling it. You will need: a few bobby pins, elastic and a blast of hairspray and of course a curling iron, some combs and a hair brush in handy to pull this perfect holiday hair look.

Believe me when I say this, everywhere you go you are bound to turn heads and get compliments be it in a ruffled or neat look. Nonetheless, your hair needs to be a little dirty for this hairstyle to work thus making this hairstyle the best fix even when faced with those last minute rush or event plans.

1. The first step is making sure your hair is a little dirty or has not been washed for the last few days but just in case of excess oil you can always spray it with dry shampoo. You can then proceed to curling your hair to give it a little texture.

2. After that you can proceed to part your hair on one side using a small brush. Make sure you tease sections of the parted hair focusing on hair at the crown and along the sides of your head.

3. The third step involves sectioning off a portion of your side-hair on each of the sides of your head. Then brushing the rest backwards and securing them in a low ponytail and adjusting the amount of volume in the bump at the top of your preference. You can then use your fingers to gently tease the hair at the end of your ponytail and start rolling it up towards the nape of your neck. This will be the bulk of your chignon. To make sure the roll is secure you can pin it with a few bobby pins and then pull the sides towards the ponytail roll on your head, pinning them in place to hide the inside of the roll.

4. The next step will involve brushing the side sections of your hair to smoothen them before adding them to the chignon. You will have to pull them back and twist before pinning along the top of the chignon roll. But just in case of any extra length you can always tuck them inside the roll and pin them delicately or leave them loose for a more casual look, then you will be good to go.

But if you have a shorter fringe at the front of your hairline, you can always opt to pin it separately. You can also shape it into a mini curl near the top of your head or leave the curly layers loose for a more casual look. The only thing left is to add a quick blast of hairspray and your hair will be ready for that holiday groove.
