Are you bored of your blunt hem denim? Many of us feel so. You may wish that you can simply add a fringe hem to your outfit. After all, when it comes to music festival, fringed clothing is a must! However, adding a fringe hem isn’t as easy as you thought it’d be. If you’re not careful enough, you might ruin your denim for good! Now, that’s something we don’t want to happen, right?
Rachel Zoe, a designer, stylist and beauty guru shared how you can add a fringe hem without having to worry about ruining your clothes. Through her YouTube channel, The Zoe Report, Zoe shared a video describing how you can do so. The video is less than 2 minutes long, but by the end of the video, you’d be able to grasp the steps and ta-da! You’ll have fringed denim pants.
The steps are unbelievably easy! First, you need to pick the denim outfit you’d like to add fringes on. Happen to have an old, dust-collecting pair of denim jeans? Perfect, let’s start with that! The next step? You’d need to cut off the bottom hem. Be neat!
When you’re done, grab a seam ripper (you can get one for around US$4 on eBay), a fabric measuring tape, and a chalk. Use the seam ripper to open both side seams 3-4 inches (use the measuring tape for a more accurate measurement). Once you’re done, it’s time to put the chalk to good use! Use it to mark the top of the fringe. It should not be more than 3-4 inches, like the seams. Be steady when you mark it!
Next, comes the cutting. Use a scissor to cut ½ inch strips. If you want to be more precise, you can use the chalk to mark which part you should cut. However, it’s not a must. The strips should be narrow at the bottom and wide at the top. Once you’re done, wash and dry. You can also sew a hem at the top of the fringe. Iron the denim, then after trimming the excess edge, you’re done!

I am a huge fan of denim- I have been toying with the latest additions lately, but jeans are still my BIG favorite. I am not sure how I could get dressed everyday without a pair of jeans. I admit I fall in and out of love with each of my pairs of jeans constantly – I am not going to fess up just yet as to how many pairs there are.
