If you have an oversized tee somewhere lost in your closet and you don’t know how to make a better use of it, we have an awesome fashion project for you. With the the help of a few things and investing just a little time, you can create a beautiful upcycled shirt.
You will need:
– thick lace or ribbon;
– scissors and a few pins;
– sewing kit.
Directions: Take the lace or the ribbon and with the help of the pins, fix it around the collar of the t-shirt. Here you can become very creative and think of a desired model or just take the example as you can see in the pictures. If you are a skilled tailor you can use your sewing machine and if not, you can easily hand stitch the piece of material around the top and the bottom of the neck. Pay attention not to sew both sides of the t-shirt together. With the help of the scissors cut some straight lines into the angles of the t-shirt and fold down the remnant parts. For a better support, stitch the folded material pieces behind the collar and this way you will have some additional layers for stability. Cut down those big sleeves and hide the remaining material behind the faux collar. Simple, no? Now try it on and see how it fits. If the arm holes are too large sew some lines down the side of the t-shirt to make it fit better. Enjoy!

Very creative.thanks for sharing…
Hi. I love the make over. Just for clarification….that is the category it fits under. This is is not upcycling. Upcycling requires a physical change or manipulation to an item where you can see what it was however,it can no longer be used for its original purpose. Examples: jeans cut apart and made into a bag, a men’s tie cut apart and turned into a cell phone holder. You project started with a shirt and finished with a shirt. The purpose and function of the item did not change. It falls into the category of a clever and great make-over.
