Folded Crochet Toddler Slippers – DIY

Crochet Toddler Slippers - DIY

There are many ways to fill in your spare time. One of many them includes making these easy DIY crochet toddlers slippers. Now, we know that crocheting or knitting may not be your thing and you just don’t understand why people crochet instead of buying things of the shelves. The thought of spending hours being tangled in yarn and staring at tutorials may give you headache, but this is actually pretty far from the reality.

It’s possible to make your own crochet toddler slippers without being stressed out! The very simple design is perfect for anyone who just started crocheting or still learning. On top of it, there’s no reason why it couldn’t be used for adult slippers too.

To begin, you’d need yarn (any color would do), 4 mm crochet hook, tapestry needle for sewing up the sides, and some “no slip” for the bottoms to prevent sliding.

Directions: The first step would be creating a T-shaped crochet. The size of it is as follows: given fw is the width of the foot, and fl is the length of the foot, sw is the width of the stem of the T, and sl is the length of the stem of the T, tw is the width of the top of the T, and tl is the length of the top of the T, we have the following: sw = fw sl = fl tw = fl + fw + fl tl = fw.

Then, when you have crocheted the T, fold the arms of the T so that they overlap the stem of the T, and sew around the three sides. It ends up with a square toe and a sort of diagonal overlap, but it looks nice. After that, do the same with the left side of the shape. Now you’re only one step away from being done!

To finish, stitch together all the parts and put the “no slip” on the bottom of the slipper. There are different ways you can crochet this adorable slippers, but basically all you have to do is a bit of folding and sewing.

The video below presents another method of making these folded crochet toddler slippers. Good luck!

  1. Adorable! But, PLEASE, please…knitting and crochet are not interchangeable. You would normally knit with knitting needles and crochet with a crochet hook.

  2. Gloribarriga, in Europe they call single crochet a double crochet. Needless to say, it can get very confusing when doing one of their patterns lol.

  3. I don’t have a baby to measure the foot for the T slippers. I would like newborn or 3 or 6 months. How many stitches would you need with the size needle you said 4mm.

  4. What kind of stitch pattern did you use for the crocheted booties in the picture? I’ve tried a few different patterns but I can’t figure it out. What’s your pattern?
