Our appearance has always been an important part of our lives. Feeling good and taking care of our looks have a major impact on our self-esteem. Lips are one of the most visible parts of our body and, often, the most neglected. Lips can easily be cracked because they have almost the thinnest skin on our bodies. In today’s article, we’ve discussed 4 ways to take care of your lips. Give your lips the possibility to look more youthful and supple.
1. Plump Them-Up
Plump lips are less wrinkly and give the appeal that they are well-hydrated. Not only are plump lips considered to be an ideal beauty standard, but they also add a more youthful touch to your face and further improve your appearance. There are many ways you can plump your lips. For example, consider using a lip plumper, which you can purchase online or from a drugstore. If you want a more quick and long-lasting result then you go for lip fillers or get lip treatments.
2. Exfoliate
Exfoliation is key for younger-looking lips. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells from the lips leaving them clean, smooth, and supple. Exfoliation also helps to remove discoloration from the lips. Furthermore, it doesn’t have to be expensive at all. You can make a simple scrub at home using brown sugar and honey. Take 2 spoons of brown sugar and one spoon of raw honey. Mix it and rub it on your lips and wash it off. There are many other lip scrubs you can make. For discoloration, you can even apply coriander juice to get a more pinkish tone. Try to exfoliate your lips at least thrice a week.
3. Don’t Lick Your Lips
Your saliva is home to enzymes like amylase and maltase. These enzymes help to break down large carbohydrates. When you lick your lips, saliva wears out the lip skin. Nevertheless, if you think that licking your lips will keep your lips moisturized, it actually makes them dry out faster which means you will eventually end up licking your lips again. An alternative to licking your lips is to use a lip moisturizer with vitamin E to keep your lips from drying out. If you want to cut down on the investment of glosses and lip balms, then you can always make one of your own at home.
4. Drink Water & Eat Healthy
The most cost-effective way to keep your lips hydrated and supple is to drink ample water. Water is life, and there is no bigger truth than this. Water helps improve circulation in the body which helps remove waste from cells and brings them the nutrients they need to perform their function. A diet replete with fruits and vegetables is a great way to start as well. Food items like almonds, avocadoes, blueberries, bell peppers, kiwis, mangoes, pomegranates, and more are replete with vitamin E. Vitamin E is great for the skin because it’s great for the skin, maintains cell function, and supports the immune system.
