How to Properly Take Care of Colored Hair

Colored or dyed hair is very popular at the moment. People of all ages dye their hair. Some people dye their hair bright colors to make social statements, while others dye their hair to cover up the fact that they are going grey.

If you are interested in dying your hair, then you first need to learn how to take care of it. Not properly taking care of your dyed hair could lead to it becoming damaged.

This post will explore this topic in more detail, offering some advice on how you can take care of your colored hair.

1. Toning Drops

It should be noted, you don’t always have to dye your hair. If you are trying to cover up yellow, orange, and red tones in your hair, then you could use purple toning drops instead.

In addition to helping to cover up unwanted tones, toning drops can also enhance your hair’s appearance and make it look a lot brighter and more vibrant. Toning drops work for more or less all hair colors. You don’t need to apply a lot though. Be sure to follow the instructions on the packaging of the product that you buy.

2. Washing Hair

A lot of people wash their hair once a day. Experts say that you should only wash your hair a few times a week, however, to preserve your hair’s natural oils. If you dye your hair, then you need to wash it as little as possible. The more you wash your hair, the quicker the colors will fade.

Some hair dye can be bad for your hair, so constantly reapplying it because you have washed it out could cause damage to your hair. Make sure to use organic shampoos, too. Organic shampoos are much better and more nourishing for your hair.

3. Air Drying

Something else that is recommended by a lot of haircare experts is air drying your hair after you have washed it. Whatever you do, make sure that you don’t use a hair dryer. A hairdryer can not only damage your hair but also make the dye you have put in a lot less intense and vibrant.

Some experts recommend applying oil to your hair after you get out of the shower or bath, to nourish it even further. Avoid going outside when your hair is wet because this can lead to mold growing in it.

4. Eat Well

If you want healthy hair, dyed or not, then you need to eat a diet that’s healthy. A lot of people’s diets are awful, and then they wonder why their hair looks so bad. Ideally, you should eat a diet that’s rich in fruit and veg.

If you do not get enough nutrients from your diet alone, then you might also want to take multivitamins. Taking multivitamins can give your body a much-needed nutrient boost. Try to avoid buying multivitamins that contain additives or fillers. Only ever buy organic products. If possible, only buy organic produce, too.

Taking care of dyed hair is just as simple as taking care of natural hair. The healthier your hair is, the better it will look. When using dye, try to use dye that’s made from natural ingredients, too. You should avoid chemicals as much as possible.
