Did you ever think of making earrings or necklaces out of empty plastic bottles that would normally be thrown away or recycled? Maybe you would like to try and see what you can make out of those bottles, and we have an idea for you.
You will need:
– empty plastic bottles (look for those that have: “1” or “2” in the recycling “marking” on the bottom of the bottle;
– “fish hook” style earring bases;
– round links.
Directions: Clean and empty the bottles, and cut desired shapes out of them. For protecting your hands, use pliers or tweezers to hold the shapes while slightly melting the edges to get to the shape you want. You should be careful with the ventilation in the space you desire to do this work. Also pay attention to slowly melting the pieces, because plastic can curl rapidly if you make a wrong move. When you are done melting the pieces, heat a pin to poke holes where you wish to attach links. Enjoy!
