2. Planning

The simple act of crossing out the completed tasks gives the motivation to work through the rest of the items. The remaining unfulfilled tasks are carried over to the next day. It is recommended to include an unscheduled block for unexpected situations and duties to your list.

3. Motivation

Many students face the problem forcing themselves into studying because a tight study schedule does not have any time for a long adaptation. However, by the end of the summer, the student’s motivation and determination to study are almost entirely lost.

Neither the strict voices of parents nor the demands of teachers can rearrange the student into a working environment. No one can make them learn unless they change their mood. A simple question can help you get your motivation back: “What do I get my education for?”. There are many different reasons for that:

⦁ to become a more developed, literate person;
⦁ to earn good money, to provide for myself and my future family;
⦁ get a prestigious higher education diploma.

You should write the answers on the sheet of paper and look at it more often. If the reason is to please your mother or father or to sit on your parents’ neck a little longer, it is time to think about your goals. You should not waste your life in vain.

To make the adaptation go smoother and increase motivation, you can watch educational films in your majors or read books. It is useful to be inspired by the biographies of great people who have devoted their time to intensive study — reading trains the brain perfectly, preparing it for the upcoming intellectual strain.

4. Routine

The free schedule during the holidays contributed to the development of such habits as attending parties till dawn, addiction to Netflix, and waking up at midday. According to scientists, an attempt to force yourself to adjust to the working mode only immediately increases cravings. The gradual replacement of bad habits with useful ones is more effective.

It is necessary to return the correct mode long before the beginning of classes, smoothly adjusting to going to bed early and waking up early as well. In order to develop the reflex of a healthy routine, you should go to bed and wake up at the same time, including weekends. The duration of sleep should be at least 8 hours. The most effective time for sleeping is between 10-11 PM and 6-7 AM.

Studies show that regular falling asleep after 11 PM reduces a person’s intellectual capacity. If sleep occurs after 1 AM, there is a disturbance in the nervous and muscular systems. The consequences of this regime are expressed in pessimism, sluggishness, a sense of physical and mental distress. If you fall asleep after 3 AM, the emotional sphere suffers. Irritation and aggression appear. An unhealthy routine leads to the development of depression.

5. Strategy

When the summer holiday is over, it seems that you will have plenty of time ahead. However, time flies. In order not to feel overloaded from the first days of study, you should not postpone the learning process to Monday. It is better to prepare in advance:

⦁ find out about teachers and subjects, the location of classes;
⦁ find out the requirements for the exams;
⦁ visit the first lectures for each subject to find out the dates of required classes and papers;
⦁ get a positive impression of yourself from the start by attending lectures from the most demanding teachers diligently;
⦁ compile a list of recommended literature and begin to study the material.

Information tends to be forgotten, especially after a long vacation. Such “memory gaps” are natural processes, but have a negative impact on learning. Therefore, you should take control and make yourself read last year’s notes, refreshing your memory.

Pre-planning and proper load sharing will help the student to integrate into the learning process smoothly. Every person has their strong points. In the first days of study, it is recommended to put more emphasis on things that are easy to do. This will help the student to adapt more quickly to the learning process.
